Ultimately, it boils down to having fun with them. Don't overspend or compete for ego's sake.

I only bought that many because there was a good deal online, and I army build LoTR stuff for tabletop wargames. Much cheaper than getting LoTR lead figurines and painting them for tabletop wargaming. And I m a BIG fan of Tolkien's writings.
