REVIEW: 9489 Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack
Hello everyone,
It has been a very long while since I have ever written a LEGO Stars Wars review. Most of the time, I will be very fascinated with the various releases of LEGO Star Wars battle pack since 2007 which I am particularly interested in as battle packs will ultimately allow LEGO fans to gain access to army building and in the context of Stars Wars universe, this is particularly true for many who are bending to build either a strong imperial empire or a resilient rebel force. Without further ado, let me show you the beauty of this battle pack.

The struggle for victory continues in Endor Forest
Many of us grew up watching the Star Wars movie and notably, one of my favourite Star Wars movie is the Episode VI: Return of the Jedi where the focal scene is at the Endor Planet filled with dense forest, Ewoks village, multiple skirmishes with the imperial army and the ultimate victory for the rebel troopers. Wow, I didn't expect to be able to condense this lengthy movie in just a short sentence. I will certainly be focusing more on this set and till this date, this 9489 Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack is the sixth wave of battle packs and this battle pack is a class of its own which is definitely highly desired by Original Trilogy fans.
The content of the sealed box
The sealed box comes with two mint numbered packages and an instruction manual to guide the user to build up the set. After the building is completed, these are the remaining spare parts.
Let's start the building process
A short comic scene at the end of the instruction manual
At the end of the instruction manual, there is a very short illustrated comic scene where the stealth rebel troopers is awaiting to ambush an unknowing scout trooper who is on duty. It is pretty illustrative to show the playability of this set in just four picture frames.
The opposing armies of the Imperial Forces and the Rebel Troopers
As always, many of us buy battle packs mainly for the minifigures and judging from the image itself, this is certainly the key reason why I am buying multiple packs. For myself, I had acquired a total of five of such battle packs and not because the set is featured on a heavily discounted sales but instead the minifigures of the opposing sides is a very tempting reason to justify my multiple purchases.
It is simply because I have always wanted to build an Endor army and the only set with Endor rebel troopers can only be found in the 8039: The Battle of Endor. There were no other LEGO Star Wars set that contain any Endor rebel troopers with the exception of this battle pack. Without this battle pack, many army builders will have to resort to pay premium price to acquire these type of troopers to build a decent platoon. I could not want to spend more than USD$10 (average) to acquire these minifigures. Therefore, this battle pack is like a dream come true.
This is a close up view of the Endor Rebel Troopers and the Endor Rebels' tactical helmets which contain many fine details at the side as well. With the exception of the scout trooper that have no back printing, the rest of the three minifigures contain very detailed back printing.
The stormtrooper and the scout trooper is pretty much the same old typical design, similar to previous generations of releases. However, it is welcoming to get more of these minifigures especially when there are intentions to build a larger imperial army for both of these different type of troopers.
Stormtrooper and Scout Trooper are no longer faceless
I can see through the helmet with my very own eyes
Building up the base of the rebel hideout
The completed built of the Rebel Hideout
The entire built of this Rebel Hideout is small in scale where you will not be able to see the dense vegetation of the plants and foliages. The guard post where it is supposed to be well-hidden into the forest is actually a simple flick-missile feature with a technic part below to illustrate the machine gun aspect. At the side of it, there is a not-quite visible weapon rack where the troopers may place their weapons for storage. To be honest, I am not expecting a full scale well camouflaged outpost but at the same time I am not expecting it to be very bare as you can see from the above image. I will prefer to break this apart and use it more of a parts pack since there are some good brown bricks and plants parts for MOCING purpose.

The completed built of the Speeder Bike
This is certainly a beautiful sleek piece of Imperial Speeder Bike where the scout trooper will use it to deploy for reece mission in the Endor Forest. Speeder Bike is also known as hover bikes or open-air repulsorlift vehicles which is powerful in speed and manoeuvrability. It is capable of carrying one or two passengers and in this case, there is only one space for one personnel. A typical speeder bike had a maximum altitude of 10 meters and could thus manoeuvre deftly over very rough terrain. In LEGO context, this Speeder Bike measured at 14 centimetres long. I will definitely don't mind owning a fleet of speeder bikes where it can be easily deployed for rough terrain reece missions. Of course, these scout troopers must watch out for incoming unsuspecting traps and they probably won't notice it since they are travelling at very high speed.

Let's hunt for some rebels!
I wonder where those pesky rebels could be hiding
To conclude, this set is a dream come true for many LEGO Star Wars army builders especially to those who love the Endor battle scene very much. It is the most easiest accessible approach to acquire many low costing Endor rebel troopers to build up your desired platoon. It is also another affordable way to acquire more of the Imperial Army such as the stormtrooper, scout trooper and the iconic speeder bike. The only downside for this set is the lack of dense vegetation of the physical built to camouflage the outpost and the supposed cannon. However, this is not as bad as it is and the rest of it is the main star attraction to entice many more multiple purchases on this set.
Summary review
Playability: 8.5/10 (Fun ambush scene to play around with opposing sides.)
Design: 8.5/10 (Design of the entire set is done nicely with the exception of the outpost.)
Price: 6/10 (The price is definitely on the high side with the low parts per cost ratio especially in Singapore context.)
Overall: 7.6/10 (Despite of its high price tag, the entire set definitely gives you the fun playing experience.)
I gave it a "4" based on my Review Score Card. What about yours?
I hope every one of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are strongly welcomed.

Ya...I also think that they should have more minifigures for this price.
