Review : #010 LEGO IDEAS - 21302 The Big Bang Theory
LUGSING is very lucky to receive a pre-release copy of 21302 The Big Bang Theory for review. Special thanks to Jan Beyer and CEE Community Support Team for making this review possible.
The Big Bang Theory is an American sitcom and the series is not aired on any of the local channels. The journey on how this came to be a official LEGO set can be found here and here.
Set Number: 21302
Name: The Big Bang Theory (#010)
Theme: LEGO IDEAS
Release Date: 1 August 2015 (Hearsay SG also around same timing.)
Pieces: 479
Price: US$59.99 | €59.99 (Again hearsay SG RRP is SG$119.90.)
The front of the box.
The top of the box.
The side of the box.
The back of the box.
The contents nicely packed in the flip open box.
Set parts inspection.
2 x Number 1 bags, 3 x Number 2 bags, 1 x 16x16 dark tan plate, 2 x 6x16 dark tan plate, 1 x sticker sheet and 1 x instruction booklet.
Contents of big Number 1 bag.
Contents of small Number 1 bag.
Contents of big Number 2 bag.
Contents of mid Number 2 bag.
Contents of the small Number 2 bag.
Printed items.
Things I found interesting. First time seeing the parts in this colour.
All about the instruction booklet.
Background story in the instruction booklet.
Characters biodata in the instruction booklet.
Meet the 2 Designers of the set.
What interest me is that at random pages of the instruction booklet, there is a quote from each character. I presume its their famous quote in the series as I don't watch the show at all.
The Part List.
Number 1 bags builts.
Number 2 bags builts.
The built.
Number 1 bags built. I quite like the construction of the book shelf, perhaps I can integrate into my future MOC.
Number 2 bags built and the completed model.
Alternate angle.
The Characters (Front).
The Characters (Back). All got double expression and back printing.
The extras. TLG is generous this time. Plenty of spares.
Overall thoughts.
TLG retained most of the original design of the submission. However, I prefer the original submission's DNA strand better (picture below). As for the local RRP point, well, although a little pricey, but this set does feature 7 minifigs with a detailed living hall and plenty of spares especially good for City and Modular fans (They included the full cutlery pack for only 2 forks used in the set!!!)
Original submission

Hope you enjoy the review as much as I reviewed and built it. Thanks for reading.
PS : I am lazy so I threw in my Brick Badge in the photos to avoid watermarking the photos. :p

Thanks for the review. Parts assortment looks good
I'm sure this set will do well in countries where the program is showing. Then again, fans can be anywhere these days. There is a following after all to warrant it being produced as a LEGO set.

I'm waiting for this set. I am glad there are no stickers in this set. Most of the elements are printed. I hope I could get cheaper price for this set..
